It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Eleanor Wilson, who left this world on June 30, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 11, 1943, in Richmond, Virginia, Mary grew up in a loving household at 309 West Clay Street. She was the daughter of George O. Harrison and Margaret J. Harrison, and cherished memories of her late sister, Margaret Woodson.
Mary dedicated her career to serving the community through her role in customer service for the City of Richmond's gas and water department. Her kind nature and her heartfelt commitment to helping others were a testament to her warm, loving, and personable character. Mary was truly a people person, known for her caring demeanor that made everyone feel valued.
An esteemed graduate of Maggie L. Walker High School, Class of 1962, and Victory Business School, she used her education as a stepping stone to nurture her passions both professionally and personally. In her leisure time, Mary found joy in sewing, immersing herself in gameshows and puzzles, and joyfully cooking for her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Richard A. Wilson Sr., —Robert E. Streater III (Malverna), Robert E. Brown Jr., and Kevin A. Brown, along with stepson Richard Wilson Jr. She will be forever remembered by her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were fortunate to know her warmth and grace.
A Funeral Service to honor Mary Eleanor Wilson will take place on July 5, 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM, with services held at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220. The family invites all who knew and loved Mary to join together in remembrance and celebration of her life.
