LeVar Tyre Tazewell, known to some as "Tizzo, a husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 47. Born on May 3, 1978, in Nassawadox, Virginia, LeVar lived a life that was characterized by his dedication to his family and his profession in construction and auto mechanics. He was a true Baltimore Ravens fan. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
LeVar attended Liberty High School in Hinesville, Georgia, LeVar was more than just a skilled tradesman; he was a hard worker who consistently put others before himself. Those who worked alongside him admired his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence in every project he undertook.
LeVar’s personality resonated with warmth and kindness. He enjoyed making people happy and had an outgoing and friendly demeanor that drew others to him. His presence could light up a room, and friends often remarked on how approachable and easygoing he was. LeVar found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing and playing cornhole, activities that brought him happiness and created cherished memories with his loved ones.
Most importantly, LeVar was a devoted dad. He loved his children, LeBran and Diamond Tazewell. LeVar’s family meant everything to him, and he took great pride in being a supportive and engaged parent, always striving to create a nurturing environment for his children.
He is survived by his children, LeBran Tazewell and Diamond Tazewell; his parents, Roosevelt, Sr. and Sharon Renee Smith Tazewell, Ludowici, GA; his two brothers, LaBron (Lizear) Tazewell, Ozark, AL and Roosevelt Jr. (Nichole) Tazewell, Hinesville, GA; his maternal grandmother, Bernice E. Smith, Eastville, VA; his uncles, Larry Tazewell, Cape Charles, VA, and Christopher Peace, Glen Allen, VA. He also leaves behind four nephews, Razhan Tazewell, Dezhan Tazewell, Julian Tazewell and Jace Tazewell; an Honorary daughter, Ni'Keijah Payne; a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends who are heartbroken by his untimely loss. He is married to Claudia Tazewell and he loved his stepchildren, Maccio Harris Deonna and Deion Delaware.
A celebration of life memorial service to celebrate LeVar’s life will be held on July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Joseph Jenkins Jr Funeral Home located at 2011 Grayland Ave, Richmond, VA 23220.
